It argues that abortion must not be legal as it sheds light on the harms that an abortion could cause. It goes on from discussing the dangers that threaten the well-being of the mother to the hardships that face couples who choose to abort a child as it finally establishes that abortion is a murder proving that there is life in the fetus. This paper refers to many studies, books and articles to provide the appropriate scientific back up to every claim. She wants an abortion as an animal, caught in a trap, wants to gnaw off its own leg. ââ¬â¢- Frederica Matthews-Green. The reason why abortion is such a controversial topic hides behind the fact that it was illegal for a long time and is now becoming legalized in many parts of the world. As a matter of fact, abortion was practiced in almost every society in the ancient times. Evidence of abortions are as old as 3500 years. It was not until the early 19th century that many physicians, religious persons and social reformers first sought to ban abortion. Of course, many defend the new laws that are with abortion claiming it to be part of a womanââ¬â¢s rights to her own body, while many others argue that killing a fetus is as bad as killing a child. The two stands could be branched from two more general viewpoints: pro choice and pro life respectively. To be pro life means to believe that the government has the duty of preserving all human life no matter what the quality of life may be; in contrast, being pro choice means believing that all choices pertaining to oneââ¬â¢s own anatomy should remain legal. Ironically, both view points are defending human rights, the only disagreement lies in what should be considered human life and what should not. However, these approaches are very theoretical and lack reality. Abortion is not: ââ¬Ëan induced termination of pregnancy, involving destruction of the embryo or fetusââ¬â¢ as Websters New World Dictionary suggests. It is the termination of a potential human life which actually generates more torment than it does relief. By all means, abortion should be illegal all around the world because, in addition to all the dangers that threaten the well being of the woman and the couple, it is still murder. Most of the women who go into surgery or take a medicinal treatment to abort a child are not told about the risks they are taking. The physical, mental and emotional dangers that are triggered after such a process are far more serious than the repercussions of any other treatment. As Lalwani (2010) reported in her article ââ¬Å"Post Abortion Side Effectsâ⬠, surgical abortions could cause irreparable damage to the patientââ¬â¢s cervix or uterus. Furthermore Lalwani explains how hazardous general anesthesia could be when used to perform an abortion and how it could lead to cardiac arrests. Despite the fact that a surgical abortion seems scarier than a medical one (one that involves using a pill kill the fetus), the writer clarifies that the side effects of medical abortion could stretch out to infertility and death as a result of a whole bodily infection. Moreover, the effects on mental health are completely related to the emotional state of the patient. ââ¬Å"There was clear evidence of a relationship in which rates of mental health problems increased significantly with increasing abortion-related distress. â⬠(Fergusson, Horwood amp; Boden, 2009, p. 424) The research, based on information about 523 women, proved that women who have had an abortion were 1. 9-2. 0 times more likely to have negative reactions such as ââ¬Å"major depression, anxiety disorders, suicidal ideation, alcohol/drug dependence, and a number of mental health problemsâ⬠than women who have not. Infinite numbers of studies confirm that after abortion most women get suicidal ideas, some even give it a try. According to Dillon (2007), of the 65% of women who thought about killing themselves, 35% actually attempted to ââ¬Ëabortââ¬â¢ their own lives. It is no mystery why any mother wouldnââ¬â¢t want to live after her child is killed. Who would want to live with not only the thought of having lost a child, but also with the feeling of guilt that constantly reminds them it was their choice that killed? Anyone who is human enough to feel love for another would feel extreme distress after such a procedure. No one wants to be in a situation where they have to make tough decisions, but the dangers of abortion make it clear that it is not a proper solution to any problem. The relationship of the couple is also affected by abortion because as much as the embryo is part of the womanââ¬â¢s life, it is also part of the manââ¬â¢s. No matter how much feminists make it seem like an unborn child is only the motherââ¬â¢s concern, the father also has a say in this. A woman has the right to do whatever she wants to her body, and she is free, but that fetus is a being on its own and part of the father and not just part of the mother. According to Shostak, McLouth, and Seng, (1984), many men (whose girlfriends or wives have had an abortion) felt that they were absent in the decision-making process. Many of them would have wanted to keep itââ¬âââ¬Å"Many broke down and cried during the interviewâ⬠. If person M and person F were baking a cake together in person Fââ¬â¢s oven, and F decided she did not like or want the cake anymore, does she have the right to throw it without Mââ¬â¢s consent? M has put as much ingredients and effort in that cake and has the right to object. The fact that it was being baked in Fââ¬â¢s oven makes no difference. When an unexpected pregnancy occurs and abortion is brought up, the world of the couple crumbles. If a single person canââ¬â¢t make up their mind when it comes to such a controversial subject, then how about two? The truth is, couples rarely mutually agree about performing an abortion, since there is always someone whoââ¬â¢s reluctant about it and another whoââ¬â¢s encouraging it. If a couple thinks having a child might destroy their relationship, then they should try having an abortion. In his PhD. Thesis, ââ¬Å"Induced Elective Abortion and Prenatal Griefâ⬠, Gail Williams reveals that 80. 7% of women who have had an abortion werenââ¬â¢t even living with their partner (the father) after a couple of years. Couples hardly ever survive abortions, because while the woman is experiencing dozens of emotional complications, the man is trying to re-gain his masculine identity as a parent, a father. To make matters worse, the womanââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ësexual responseââ¬â¢ usually radically lessens after an abortion for a number of reasons including physical problems and fear of another pregnancy. It is even professionally advised that women who have had an abortion refrain from any kinds of sexual activities (Pendergraft, 2009). All that leads to less communication between the couple due to the lack or the insufficient understanding of one to what the other is going through. Whether with respect to a woman, a man or both as a couple, an abortion is a very emotionally draining process. The way that people view abortion differs solely because of the way people perceive a fetus. Individuals who are pro choice believe that the embryo is not a human being until the mother is three months into her pregnancy. To them, the unborn child remains a part of its mother, and so it is part of her right as a human to act however she wishes with it. As Head argues in his article ââ¬Å"Pro-life vs. Pro-choiceâ⬠, ââ¬Å"We value each other for social, emotional reasons; science does not tell us to do it. â⬠It is as if those who are for abortion are simply for abortion because to them, science canââ¬â¢t prove the existence of human life in the womb before three months. However, and contrary to what they might think, all the scientific evidence of life before three months has been gathered. In his book ââ¬Å"Abortion and the Meaning of Personhoodâ⬠, Bajema(1974) states ââ¬Å"Webster defines life in this way: The quality or character distinguishing an animal or a plant from inorganic or from dead organic bodies, which is especially manifested by metabolism, growth, reproduction, and internal powers of adaptation to environment. (p. 16). Even the zygote constantly experiences metabolism and growth, and the embryo develops reproductive organs as early as six weeks. Moreover, studies of fertilization in vitro have proven that a zygote as young as one week has a chance of adapting to the culture outside the motherââ¬â¢s womb. (Brown NA, Clarke D. O. , McCarthy A. , 1991, p. 245-253). And isnââ¬â¢t it alive? I think everyone can relate to the fact that where life exists, so does the instinct of survival. A fetus of less than 12 months still swims away from the curette (the loop-shaped knife that is usually used in pre-mature abortions) when it is inserted into the uterus ââ¬â survival! How about the embryo which is aborted? What happens to it? It Dies. The fact that it dies means that it was alive before so. Some people argue that it is not human before three months. Well, it certainly is not a monkey. It has all the chromosomes and DNA of a human being. At as early as eight weeks, the embryo has developed hair, eyelids, and by the end if the ninth week, it starts to suck its thumb. (Willke, 1985). A fetus is as alive as any human being, and killing it should not be legal when homicides are not. Aborting a fetus is murder, and there is more evidence to prove it than needed. Abortion is many things, among those it is the taking away of a human life. Whether before or after twelve weeks abortion is a crime ââ¬â a crime which people are rarely penalized for. Because of social pressures, humans are abolishing life. Mockingly, individuals defend the rights of those who are disabled and yet, if they could, some would kill them before they are even born. Abortion today is not limited by anything except time, and excuses vary from not being ready to have a child to not wanting an abnormal child. There are only excuses for mistakes, errors and wrong doing. And if abortion is not even a mistake, then homicide shouldnââ¬â¢t be a crime. Abortion cannot only be blamed on the parents; it should also be blamed on the doctors that perform such operations because they are the ones who have been sworn to do their best to preserve human life ââ¬â abortion is really the opposite of that. And as Reagan R. said, ââ¬Å"Everybody that is for abortion has already been born. â⬠Mothers should be encouraged not to abort, but to love their unborn children as much as they love the ones they have born. Shakespeare presents Richardââ¬â¢s downfall through an unusually resentful tone as well as successfully utilizing certain poetic devices to emphasize the mood and message. The first section, from lines 178 to 182, shows Richardââ¬â¢s state fresh out of his nightmare. Here, he is still processing what had occurred and commenting on his state physically. The first line; ââ¬Å"Give me another horse! Bind up my wounds! â⬠is said by Richard unconsciously as it is his first reaction to the nightmare. This clause actually foreshadows Richardââ¬â¢s situation during the battle at Bosworth where his horse is slain, leaving him at a disadvantage by battling on foot. The usage of exclamation points in this line and also in the next line, ââ¬Å"Have mercy, Jesu! â⬠shows how the effects from the ghostsââ¬â¢ visits still lingered in Richard, causing him to answer in short, bold sentences. This is the first time in the play where he cries out with such fear. A distressed tone is well set here by utilizing the words ââ¬Å"deadâ⬠, ââ¬Å"coldâ⬠, ââ¬Å"fearfulâ⬠and ââ¬Å"tremblingâ⬠. This creates the dark atmosphere that surrounds Richardââ¬â¢s current condition. This portrays the extent of the fear Richard has experienced in his dream as he uses morbid words. This line also shows how Richardââ¬â¢s fear has not only taken over him inside, but it has also gone to the extent to be revealed on the outside. Throughout the play, Richard has controlled his emotions completely to act as the Machiavel, but this line shows his high confidence deteriorating, exposing the weakness in him. The next section of this passage, from lines 183-193, shows Richard arguing with his conscience after realizing that he himself is the reason of his fear. The tone and the structure changes as Richard starts to question himself while hoping to prove that there is nothing to fear. After carefully analyzing his character, he finally finds that he has become something so sinister that he fears himself. Shakespeare utilizes (hie-pah-for-uh) throughout this section. For example, in line 185, Richard says ââ¬Å"Is there a murderer here? No. Yes, I amâ⬠. First, he answers his question with a flat and distinct ââ¬Å"Noâ⬠but then truthfully contradicts this exclamation with ââ¬Å"Yes, I amâ⬠. He cannot lie to himself about what he truly is as he undeniably knows that he is alone in the room. The troubled questions and short, forceful answers create a very staggered speech showing the hesitation and uncertainty in Richard. In line 192, Richard states that he is now a villain; ââ¬Å"I am a villain. Yet I lie. I am not. â⬠In the beginning speech of Richard III, Richard tells the audience that he will ââ¬Å"prove a villainâ⬠and now, after analyzing himself, he realizes that he has successfully proved himself. But he hesitates, he is uncertain about this acceptance as he tells himself ââ¬Å"Yet I lie. I am notâ⬠. Instead of congratulating himself and gloating about his success, he wants to deny this. This can be compared to Richardââ¬â¢s reaction and character after he successfully deceives Lady Anne into falling in love with him. He was more than proud of his villainy and did not hesitate one second to hide it. His robust, spirited personality is entirely changed in this passage as he now resents the crimes he committed. In the next line, Richard says ââ¬Å"Fool, of thyself speak well. Fool, do not flatterâ⬠which in this clause, Shakespeare utilizes anaphora as well as (an-tith-e-ses) together to get Richardââ¬â¢s message along. So far, from what he has already said, his confidence has obviously dropped dramatically as he continued to look further into his past actions. Therefore, when he says ââ¬Å"Fool, of thyself speak wellâ⬠, he is comforting himself, trying to regain his posture as a villain. But he then balances this phrase out by saying ââ¬Å"Fool, do not flatterâ⬠. The use of antithesis shows Richardââ¬â¢s cunning and undeniably smart character once again as he regulates himself so that he will not go overboard with comforting himself. Also, the use of anaphora on the word ââ¬Å"Foolâ⬠allows the audience to be certain Richard is referring to the same part of his conscience. It also shows how Richard perceives himself at that moment which is vulnerable and weak. But this line altogether shows how Richard is in such a weak state that he goes through the trouble to not only comfort himself, but also to remind himself not to gloat. In the next section (194-200), Richard moves on from arguing with his conscience, to thinking about the crimes he has committed. The section starts with a metaphor comparing his conscience with a creature with several tongues showing that there are many different voices in Richardââ¬â¢s conscience. This line ties in with the next two lines smoothly with the help of (an-uh-dip-lo-sis). The word ââ¬Å"tongueâ⬠is brought up again in the beginning of the next line which is followed by reiterating the word ââ¬Å"taleâ⬠from the end of the last line. These lines also lead to a climax; the tongues of Richardââ¬â¢s conscience all have a tale to tell which overall accuses Richard for a villain. Opposite from the recently mentioned lines, lines 197-199 use epistrophe to emphasize the different ways the word ââ¬Å"degreeâ⬠is used to portray how he is accused of murder and sinned on. This last part of this section displays how Richard knows how people perceive his villainy which he himself finds terrifying. He now understands his guilt which he could not have before his revelation. The last section of this excerpt starts at line 201 and ends at 207. The tone of Richard in this section turns pessimistic as he resides to accepting his misery. He knows that he is genuinely hated and he accepts this. ââ¬Å"There is no creature loves me, / And if I die no soul will pity meâ⬠. Here, Richard clearly states how not even a creature or a soul so much as pities him. He also realizes that he does not even expect pity as he has no pity for himself. This brings to show how Richardââ¬â¢s insensitivity has come back. He is slowly regaining his posture as an apathetic villain. Finally, the re-hardened Richard comes to full play in the last few lines (from 205-207) of this passage which is shown through its stable structure. ââ¬Å"Methought the souls of all that I had murdered / Came to my tent, and every one did threat / Tomorrowââ¬â¢s vengeance on the head of Richardâ⬠The speech is ot once broken and he confidently dictates it in full comprehensive sentences displaying the full recovery of Richard as the machiavel. This passage gives the audience the final hint that Richardââ¬â¢s downfall is unavoidable. Even though he did recover from his largest obstacle, back to the strong and confident villain he once was, it was in-ev-it-able for this scene to be fully forgotten. Richardââ¬â¢s speech in this scene displays the ultimate breakdo wn of his fearless character which takes part of molding his future in the play.

The stories in this book are both the authors and the people he interviews, as he repeatedly visits Rwanda in an attempt to make sense of what happened. Some of the people he interviewed include: a Tutsi doctor who has seen much of her family killed over decades of Tutsi oppression, a hotel manager who hid hundreds of refugees from certain death, and a Rwandan bishop who has been accused of supporting the slaughter of Tutsi schoolchildren. The title, "We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families," comes from a letter that was sent in the midst of the genocide in Rwanda in 1994 by seven Tutsi pastors, members of Rwanda's Tutsi minority. They were inside a church where they'd taken refuge, as many Rwandans who were slated for death did, and at that point, everybody in the Tutsi minority was slated for death. They'd taken refuge in the church headquartersthis was an Adventist church in western Rwanda. And they had been told that they were slated to be massacred the next day. So these pastors got together and they wrote a letter to the president of the Adventist Church, who was also a pastor and a Hutu and the president of the church for this entire region. When I walked in the store I was greeted by the smell of coffee and sound of The Rolling Stones song Monkey Man playing over the store speakers with the owner of the store john singing along to the song and throwing his arms up like a monkey. As soon as you walk into the store your face to face with a giant rack of used DVDs ranging from Driving Miss Daisy to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre the store itself is not very big on the left side of the store is a shelf contain records from Abba to Rob Zombie on the right side is a shelf holding the cds. I was immediately welcomed by john who sitting down in behind his cash register with a sign on it that read ââ¬Å"No Personal Checkâ⬠behind him was a giant poster of Frank Zappa which seemed like one of his most prized positions john had. John had on a tie dyed rolling stones shirt john had looked tried and he seemed to be discomfort later I found out he looked that way due to having MS. Before john and I stared talking I asked if we could take a walk around the store john told me that he is not able to ââ¬Å"move very well because I have Multiple sclerosisâ⬠so he called for his employee Jack to walk with me and directed Jack to answer questions I have. Jack was tall and in his early 20s ,jack and I walked around the store looking at vinyl they had they had seemed to have every record you could ask for and if they didnââ¬â¢t have it they could order it for you . I asked jack to explain the process of how they value the used records that come in the shop jack pulled a random of the shelf and proceeded to go over the check list ââ¬Å"first we look at the condition of the album sleeve any bends or damage to it second we look for the labeling mono, monophonic, monaural, stereo or stereophonic on the sleeve and record label, which identifies the recording process and helps us determine the value and finally we Evaluate the condition of the record by looking for any obvious damage to the vinyl. Jack holds the record up to the light on a slight tilt Look for scratches, record edge nicks or damage to the paper labelâ⬠we have music here for everyoneââ¬â¢s price range after that I thanked jack and retuned to talk to john. When I came back to talk to john he had offered me a cup of coffee I accepted and went on to ask john how long has the store been open john told me that ââ¬Å"I am the fifth owner of Rainbow Records; it first started out in Park Ridge in the mid-1970s. Then the store was moved to Palatine in 1993 by the fourth owner, who offered me the opportunity to buy the store from him in 1997 I then eventually moved the store to hereâ⬠. I asked john what was the first record he had ever purchased john though for a minute and said ââ¬Å"Surfin Safari by The Beach Boys when I was 9-years-oldâ⬠I ask john why do you think vinyl sales are going up while CD sales are falling ââ¬Å"There is nothing like vinyl It has a totally different sound than CDs or that MP3 stuff. Iââ¬â¢m sorry, but you donââ¬â¢t listen to music on a phone and really get to appreciate it.â⬠I said to john it looks like your store buys all types of records and CDs is there any type of music you wonââ¬â¢t buy? ââ¬Å"Classical no one asks for it so I donââ¬â¢t want it besides this is a rock and roll storeâ⬠John what do you think about kids that have never heard a record on vinyl? They are really missing out Vinyl has a great in-depth sound to it,â⬠he says. ââ¬Å"There is an art to what I call albums and what everybody called albums back in the day. From the cover, which is a piece of art in itself, to listening to, and appreciating the way songs are arranged from side to side, you donââ¬â¢t get that with any other music format.â⬠Looking around the store and seeing I was the only person in there besides jack maybe because of the weather but maybe because the store isnââ¬â¢t doing so well I asked john what got him into the record business ââ¬Å"If you think about how much money youââ¬â¢re going to make, thatââ¬â¢s a mistake. Youââ¬â¢re not going to get rich doing this. What youââ¬â¢re doing is sharing your love of music with other people,â⬠after john told me that a smile came across both of are faces. Before I had left the shop I walked around the store and picked up three records I think john would approve of the first one I got was The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed, Second album I grabbed was Surfin Safari by The Beach Boys and the third one was Frank Zappa Over-Nite Sensation. When I went up to john for the last time he could not help but to laugh as he rang them up as he handed me the bright yellow bag he said ââ¬Å"enjoyâ⬠when I had made it home the first thing I did was put on my new rolling stones record put the needle on Monkey Man and turned my record player up to eleven.
